Heh. Those are the remnants of long tendrils, which wrap around sea foliage to keep the egg secure and hidden until it hatches. They break off and the egg winds up on the shore, dried-out. When they’re fresh, they’re very squishy. And you have to figure, this is a two-inch egg that came out of a five-foot shark. That’s a pretty decent ratio.
If those are shark eggs, then I can understand why sharks are a little bit pissy. Ouch.
