1. Rebecca Romijn “Roxi”. How adorable is she? Fellow twinmom. Played Mystique. I love her as a mom, she’s really playing the role well – and the role is really well-written. She’s a bobcat (not old enough to be a cougar!) with her young boyfriend, who is the bellybuttonless dude from Kyle XY, who refers to himself as a sexual Batman on the show. She’s brash and sarcastic, and very sexual. I could totally hang with her and get a little drinky. I think she and her character are my favorite part of the show right now.
2. Sara Rue “Penny”. She’s looking extremely cute with that haircut, and she’s such a perfect best friend. I’m glad she and Joanna didn’t break up after their wee fight in the pilot. Love the name Penny, too.
3. Paul Gross “Darryl”. He cracks my shit up. “He had black fingernails. And he wore some kind of a cape. So I think he knew what he was talking about.” I love his crazy intensity and his blatant come-ons to Roxi.
4. Lindsay Price “Joanna”. Her inappropriate comments to her crush are hilariously embarrassing. She’s so cute. Not sure she could hang, but she might could get a little drinky with me and my girls.
5. The magic. I really love this plot. There’s been an empty space in tvland since Charmed was canceled. We need a show about witches out there. It makes something in my wee little Irish heart very happy. Maybe soon there’ll be more “urban fantasy” on tv. And no, I don’t think Supernatural counts.
And as a bonus… Darren Criss will be on this show!

I watched MTV’s Video Music Awards tonight, hanging out with friends. I haven’t watched MTV in about ten years, and I don’t think I’ve seen the VMAs since about 1997. I didn’t recognize half of the people there, a sure sign I’m getting older. I’m sitting there going “Who the hell is Taylor Swift?”
That poor baby. She won her first award and was so happy and obviously truly surprised, and jackass Kanye West goes up there and ruins her moment. She’s just a teenager, man! What is wrong with you? Have you no class at all? What would your late mama say? She didn’t raise him like that. And poor Beyonce looked horrified that he’d done that in her name. You could see when Taylor started her performance that she’d been crying. I’d never heard her sing before, and frankly it was nothing special. I thought Beyonce should have won, but damned if I wasn’t rooting for Taylor after what Kanye did. She looked so broken.
Everyone knows Beyonce’s video is amazing and would win at least one award – it’s friggin’ iconic at this point. Drag queens impersonate her and do her choreography (that’s when you know you’ve made it). And it did win. And Beyonce, because she is a lady and her mama raised her right, she gave up her moment to Taylor. I was so proud of our girl B. She’s wonderful. My friend sitting next to me said “I just love her. She should sell something so I can buy it.”
It’s a shame he didn’t try that shit on Pink. Pink would have punched him in the face.
Lady Gaga. What can you say about the Gaga? She’s nuts. She’s batshit. I fucking love her. The performance was amazing, her costumes were insane, and she has talent seeping out her every pore. Her entire life is a piece of performance art, and I love her for it.

Now that we have satellite tv, my viewing options are significantly broadened (yes, until a few months ago, we were the only people in the 21st century to still have rabbit ears). Now not only can I watch shows like Burn Notice and the endless NCIS reruns on USA, I also can watch Andrew Zimmern on the Travel channel eating bizarre foods around the world and Mike Rowe doing the disgusting or just dirty jobs no one else wants to do (or even knew were jobs in some cases).
The aptly titled “Bizarre Foods”, or as I like to think of it, “Dude Eating Weird Shit”, is Andrew Zimmern’s show on the Travel channel. You’d think that watching a guy eating strange regional foods around the world wouldn’t be very interesting, bur it’s extremely watchable. Andrew is a personable guy and the gusto with which he eats weird shit is strangely endearing. He’s just so damn excited to try everything, and he likes almost everything. The overseas episodes are my favorites for the views, but the American episodes are fun too because who knows, maybe I’ll run across these foods one day.
Mike Rowe’s Dirty Jobs is on Discovery if I recall correctly, and is equally entertaining and very funny too. Mike cracks me up. This show is slightly more well-known I think, since I’d actually heard of it before. He is a very funny guy and clearly a good host too, it’s great how he interacts with the people whose jobs he’s showing that week. He says on one episode, “We did research, and you guys will watch anything.” Yep, we will, if Mike’s snarky commentary is involved
