It’s still clean!
My boys are such boys. They would wear the same clothes for three or four days in a row if I let them. They’re always telling me “It’s still clean.” I’ve tried to explain that we don’t wear the same shirt to school today that we wore to school yesterday, but they don’t see a problem with it. “But I like this shirt! It’s Empire Strikes Back!” They do it with socks and underwear, too – they don’t see why their underpants can’t still be “clean” three days later.
It’s funny because they do like to choose their own outfits for the day and are quite specific about what they want to wear. Sometimes C will let me pick out his shirt, but usually they both want to choose their own shirt.
They don’t like to match anymore, either. When they were littler, and I was picking out their clothes every day, I put them in matching everything. It’s easier, and I think it’s cute. But now they dress themselves and I leave it up to them what they wear (so long as they don’t look homeless, which little boys sometimes do when dressing themselves), they hardly ever want to match. On school days, they won’t do it because people can’t tell them apart and their teacher will make them wear a name tag, which they don’t like. But sometimes on the weekend they think it’s fun to dress “just the same”.
