A Very Potter Earworm

I get earworms a lot. Music stuck in my head that won’t come out, lasting days or weeks. Usually it means that I listen to the song over and over to try to get it out of my head, and generally obsess over the music. Recently, as you may have noticed, it’s been Mon Amant de St-Jean. This has been overtaken now by the Very Potter Musical. I’ve been singing it around the house a lot, and seeing Half-Blood Prince Tuesday night kept making VPM references pop into my head (“My dad that’s dead, my father’s dead, I have a dead father.”). My kids are starting to request their favorites, usually Ginny’s Song. “Sing the guinea pig again!” and then they laugh and say “You want to bring me to Canada?”

Apparently a soundtrack is going to be available soon, so I can listen to the songs without playing the entire video on my iPod, which will be fun, although I love watching the whole thing over and over. And I’ll be singing along in the kitchen going “Haaaaaaaaaarry!” haha.

Mon Amant de Saint Jean

My favorite new Helm song, it’s actually a French folk song from WWII. This is the version Helm uses:

Je ne sais pourquoi j’allais danser
A Saint-Jean, au musette,
Mais quand un gars m’a pris un baiser,
J’ai frissonné, j’étais chipée

{Refrain:}
Comment ne pas perdre la tête,
Serrée par des bras audacieux
Car l’on croit toujours

{au Refrain}

Mais hélas, à Saint-Jean comme ailleurs
Un serment n’est qu’un leurre
J’étais folle de croire au bonheur
Et de vouloir garder son cœur

Comment ne pas perdre la tête,
Serrée par des bras audacieux
Car l’on croit toujours
Aux doux mots d’amour
Quand ils sont dits avec les yeux,
Moi qui l’aimais tant,
Mon bel amour, mon amant de Saint-Jean,
Il ne m’aime plus
C’est du passé
N’en parlons plus

I really love blip.fm, if you’re not already following me on there. It’s great fun. I love watching the Public link scrolling past. People have such fascinating tastes. I’ve come across some interesting songs on there. And some really weird stuff. Good times. Give it a try. You may be sucked in for hours blipping all the songs you’ve always loved.

And now they’ve got YouTube videos on blip, I can finally blip wrock! It gave me great pleasure to blip Ministry of Magic, I must admit.
