San Diego

We’re leaving in two weeks to spend most of August in San Diego. Very excited. The boys haven’t been on a plane for almost three years, I’m not sure they even remember it. It should be an interesting trip! Our DVD player doesn’t have battery power, it has to be plugged in, so I may be looking for a new cheap-o DVD player at the pawn shop soon to make the plane ride easier, otherwise I’m going to be downloading some stuff for them onto my iPod. The boys are very happy to be seeing Daddy again, we haven’t seen him since March. I’ve already found an ATS teacher that’s only 2 miles from the hotel. It’s going to be a fun vacation for us.

Dancin’ feet

Yesterday D did his little dance again, and I told him I liked his new dance. He said, “It’s not new, I did it yesterday.” He is so sarcastic. I have no idea where he gets that from. Ahem.

I’m so glad he’s decided he likes dancing. I’m looking at classes to put them in this summer since they won’t be doing a summer preschool – they’re now too old – and I want them to have some activities out of the house and with other kids. I haven’t put them in anything before now because of their speech delays, other kids treat them badly most of the time. I get nervous taking them to a play area or a park, because inevitably some kid asks “What’s wrong with him?” They used to say “Why doesn’t he talk?” but now both of the boys are speaking, they just are still very delayed for their age.

I wanted to put them in a Saturday morning soccer class this month, but there’s only one slot open. One of anything does me no good, as I always say, so I’m debating whether to go ahead and pay for that slot, then hold off until right before the class and try to bully a Parks & Rec person into letting the other twin in the class too. Otherwise they’ll have to do soccer in August, and I’ll have to try to find something else. I need to find something for June. Thinking about karate, gymnastics, maybe some kind of arts thing. I think karate would be good for helping develop their gross motor skills and their adaptive behavioral skills. Gymnastics too. An art class would help their fine motor skills. I want them to do some kind of sport this summer, but the possible Hawaii trip sometime in July is making that hard to find.

Anyway. Random thoughts again.

Upcoming Movies

What do you know, there’s actually movies this summer that I want to see. That hasn’t happened for some time, I’ve felt pretty apathetic toward movies for about the last year and a half ish.

So for my own personal edification, I’m going to make a list to keep track of when things are opening that I want to go see.

May 1: Wolverine – I know, it’s been leaked to the web, but I plan to wait for the theater. Hugh Jackman with rippling muscles? Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth? What’s not to love?

May 8: Star Trek – Yes, I like Star Trek. Don’t judge me while I get my geek on. This one looks good. Quinto as Spock? I love it.

June 19: Year One – Seems like Mel Brooks’ History of the World meets Jack Black meets 10,000 BC, and I’m down with that. Might just rent this one, though.

June 26: Cheri – Looks interestingly different. Nice to see Michelle Pfeiffer back in the world of tinsel again.

July 3: Public Enemies – I fully admit that I want to see this only to drool over Christian Bale and Johnny Depp. At some point we all have to accept ourselves.

July 15: Half-Blood Prince – ‘Nuff said.

July 24: The Ugly Truth -I like romantic comedies. Cheesy, yes, but still fun. And I love Gerard Butler with a passion that overcomes my dislike of Katherine Heigl (post her assy comments about the Grey’s writers, though she may have been punished enough by the Dead Denny storyline, we shall see).

So what are you going to see this summer?
